Why Are My Seedlings Tall, Pale, and Floppy?

They are stretched for light, a condition called etiolation. The stem elongates reaching for a light source that is too dim or too far away, the cells grow long and weak, and the seedling ends up tall, pale, and unable to hold itself up. Why Are the Leaves on My Seedlings Turning Yellow?

Yellow leaves point to one of three things, and which leaves yellow tells you which. If the lowest leaves — the cotyledons, the first two seed leaves — are yellowing while the new growth stays green, the seedling has simply spent its seed reserves and is ready for a weak feed; that is normal transition, not disease.
